Frequently asked questions about signage & display
Which tape for sign mounting on different substrate materials?
The choice depends on the material: On high-energy surfaces like aluminum composite and metal, hotmelt adhesive is often sufficient for temporary applications. For permanent outdoor mounting, we recommend pure acrylic tapes (Logo-Bond), which are UV-stable. On low-energy plastics like polycarbonate, pure acrylic is also necessary. We're happy to advise on the exact material choice.
Why do stress cracks occur in Plexiglas and how do you prevent them?
Solvent-based adhesives and cleaners dissolve the surface plastic layer and create internal stresses that lead to cracks. Solvent-free acrylic tapes completely avoid this problem. They distribute mechanical stresses evenly and are optically transparent – ideal for PMMA bonding in light boxes and displays.
Are there tapes that work without visible adhesive edges?
Yes – Logo-Bond Plus with Dry-Edge technology has adhesive-free edges. This prevents edge ooze, the squeezing out of adhesive at the edges, which would be visibly disturbing in transparent bonding. The result is a clean, professional joint without a glossy adhesive edge.
